Your first visit.

Your first visit to our office will typically be the longest. There are a few thing we need to take care of before we can take you into a treatment room for an examination. First is verifying your insurance information. We accept most forms of insurance in our office, the question we must answer is what will your insurance actually cover. We keep our intake paper work minimal, but there are a few pages with the vital information we need. Once you are finished with the necessary paper work you will be taken back to a treatment room for a thorough history, examination, then appropriate treatment.

The first 10-15 minutes of your visit with the doctor will be spent gathering both a general medical history as well as the specific complaints that brought you into our office. The information we gather here will tell us what tests we need to perform in the next portion of your visit.

Guided by your responses in the history we will complete a focused examination to determine the exact area that is causing you pain along with other possible contributing factors. During the examination we will be testing your muscles, ligaments, nerves, and joints that may be contributing to your pain.

After the history and physical examination some patients will not be candidates for chiropractic care. Those patients will be referred to the appropriate medical provider. Other patients will need imaging, such as x-rays or even an MRI before receiving treatment. However, most patients will receive treatment on their first visit.

A typical treatment includes hydrocollator packs (hot packs) followed by a brief massage, then an adjustment by the doctor. We use gentle drop table or instrument adjustments if needed, but typically give manual (with our hands) adjustments as those tend to give the fastest results. Depending on the injury or condition your treatment may also involve rehabilitation exercises, taping/bracing, physical therapy modalities, or specific muscle work.
